Curriculum and Assessment
Pre-K students do not take "tests" in school, but teachers do assess student learning throughout the school year. Basically the assessment helps us find out what they know and to prepare lessons that will best help them learn. Teachers meet with parents four times during the school year. During orientation, parents assess their own child's social and emotional development, which helps us be prepared to teach skills that build on their strengths. Teachers and Family Advocates will conduct two home visits; one in October and another February. They will also schedule a conference in May. Each of these meetings will be opportunities for teachers to share your child's academic gains, their strengths and their needs. They will also collaborate with you to develop strategies to fulfill your expectations for your child's learning.
FROG STREET is used for Head Start 3 and 4 year old classrooms and for Early Head Start 2 yr old classrooms. Teachers/CDAs and Teacher Assistants work together teaching up to date skills in math, science, social studies, technology and language arts.
